People
who are promoting incineration or "waste to
energy" plants do not have the future or well
being of those on this planet in mind. Sadly, they
make it sound like it is "thee" answer for
our dwindling landfill space issue and our energy
crisis. In reality incineration creates more
problems and leads our world on an ever more
destructive course.
Our planet is not getting bigger. We have more
people, demanding more resources from an already
decreasing supply. Over 80% of what currently is put
into trash cans is recyclable! As for most of the
other 20% we can find alternatives. We should demand
that consumer goods are made of and
packaged in recyclable materials only! And seriously
look at what we are buying. Do we really need
it?
We should be
focusing our energy on becoming a zero waste society!
Some people say "it's not possible" so
don't even consider it. Yet what do you tell a little
league team that has no chance of winning the
championship? "You can't win so don't even
try.."??!! "Quit now"
" Go home" !! That goes for just
about any team, game, issue, trial, what ever!
You don't give up because you the odds are
against you... You keep trying because you
believe in it. You have a goal and you do your best! That's
what we all should be doing!
And, yes, it is possible....
There is
no "need" for incineration or
landfills, but as long as our society refuses to
strive toward zero waste and sustainability, there
will be people promoting ways to make our
"trash" disappear.
